With this project we want to get funds to produce a DVD and a Blu-ray with EX UMBRA IN SOLEM, an interesting concert celebrated at Ourense Cathedral on April 5th this year; an amazing show that deserves to be preserved and extended widely. We have tried to guaratee the best resources within the recording, so this production can enjoy the highest artistic quality. Now we need your help to materialize this project.
EX UMBRA IN SOLEM
EX UMBRA IN SOLEM offers a journey down through the ages, where nuances and music textures that have remained asleep for centuries come to life by the hand of musicians, singers and excellent soloists, blended together to make us participants in this historic and unique cathedral of the great beauty and spirituality of Gregorian chant and the emotional wealth of the Eighteen century.
The work we want to produce was the result of seven years of research and recovery of an extraordinary legacy that was lost or deeply damaged. Music researchers Manuel Rey and Rafael Máñez studied and compiled this valuable work in thirteen volumes carefully edited by Armonia Universal.
EX UMBRA IN SOLEM allowed this music composed between between X and XIX centuries to sound again in all its glory. The result is amazing.
The musical program, specially demarcated by the recovery of the "Mass on the Hymn to Saint Martin" composed in 1780 by chapel master José Quiroga, includes a selection of antiphons, sequences and musical fragments recovered from the Ourense Cathedral musical archive. It is a beautiful journey through time, a run from the shadow into th light where this music, mute on the past is luckily revived again by the instrumental ensemble Camerata Boccherini and the choir Capela Madrigalista de Ourense. Superb also the presence of the quartet of vocal soloists: Gloria Novoa soprano, Sonia Bouzada contralto, Juan Abalde tenor and Jordi Ricart baritone. The musical group was passionately conducted by Julio Dominguez, who also performed an important preliminary work of this precious musical legacy.
The video was recorded in fullHD with 7 cameras and a crane with hothead, and was produced after a careful study of the musical work to ensure the best and most appropriate take that each musical moment requires. From impressive close-up shots to stuning aerial images accompanying this concert, achieving an artistic and unforgettable entertainment experience.
The recording and video editing process was complex, but we believe it was worthwhile seing the result, that you can watch in the trailer included on this webpage.
