1. Who am I?
Hi, thanks for wanting to support the documentary. My name is Andrés Manuel Sampedro, I am deaf person and teacher of LSE, I am currently unemployed and passionate about hiking, I also produce content on Youtube for Deaf People and Listener with LSE
2.What is this project about?
The Way of Silence consists of three parts:
1º Hiking Project
2º Recording, editing and publication of the documentary, aimed at deaf people using Spanish sign language as the main communication tool
3rd Deaf Person
1º The trekking project consists of making the Camino de Santiago on foot, The GR10, from West to East, From the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, the GR10 crosses the Pyrenean mountain range in 900km of marked roads. This excursion, which is usually carried out taking advantage of several periods of stay, allows you to discover a variety of panoramas, from the green landscapes and Banyuls Mediterranean aridity, to the undulating Hendaye, in the Basque Country and continuing the North Way to Santiago de Compostela in 830 km (in a total of 1730 km 75/85 stages).
The second part consists of the recording of the road and the later assembly of this in the form of documentary. The documentary I will record myself camera photography in hand (or stick depending on whether the occasion is worth it), trying to show daily what the Camino de Santiago is, how it is lived, the number of cultures that coexist in it, and the Atmosphere that you breathe. During the trip I will be sharing live experiences that occur to me through social networks, and a website that I create for the occasion. In addition, every night I set up and publish a daily video that reflects the reflections and teachings that show me the way. These videos will later be published on a DVD.
3º One of the purposes of my project is to show the world the reality that every deaf person faces every day. For this, I will try to travel the 1730 kilometers of Camino sharing my adventure with the thousands of pilgrims that we will cross the road.
Other courageous deaf people have already ventured to make the Camino de Santiago, but the lack of accessibility in some sections prevented their normal progress along with the rest of pilgrims.
Deaf people face countless obstacles every day, ignore much of their needs and constantly struggle to adapt to a society that often looks the other way. That is why I will record the entire video tour: so that you can see and share with us the suffering and indescribable joy of each overcome difficulty.
For me, this project is a dream, because it combines all my passions: travel, social networks, videos and the Camino de Santiago.
3.Why do I do it?
I did the Camino last year from Le Puy en Velay (France) to Santiago de Compostela 60 stages 1700 km, the experience was brutal. As I said I am passionate about hiking, and I would love to relive those experiences and new ones; Besides being able to share all that, landscapes, experiences and culture with you and with more people, is something that I am even more passionate about.
Previously I have made videos / stages on a Road to Santiago from Le Puy en Velay (France) to Santiago de Compostela in social networks and own expense and Some donations
4. Why do I need help?
To be able to finance the recording material, and part of the trekking project is something expensive and as the unemployment does not give me to be able to do it by my own means, therefore I need your help for the deaf people and listener with LSE you can see videos
